Ports of Miami and Tampa forced Closure due to Hurricane Isaac.

It is Expected that the Ports of Miami and Tampa Florida will be closing this weekend and not re-open until the forecasted Hurricane Isaac passes, this according to a statement by Carnival Cruise Lines. The Port of  Miami will close the port at 11pm on Saturday evening and Tampa at 3am on Sunday morning. So for that reason there will be following alterations for the affected Cruise Liners:

1. Carnival:

As a result of Tampa’s port closure, Carnival Legend will now dock in Port Canaveral and transport the passengers by bus back to Tampa, where the ship originated. For outgoing passengers scheduled on Carnival Legend out of Tampa, Carnival will provide complimentary shuttle service to Port Canaveral, where Legend will depart at 8pm on Sunday. As a result of Port Miami shutting down, Carnival Valor will stay at sea another day, and return to Miami until Monday morning. We think passangers will like that ! Carnival Valor’s scheduled six-day cruise will now operate as a five-day cruise departing Aug. 27, visiting Grand Cayman and Montego Bay (the scheduled call in Key West has been cancelled). Passangers will for sure not like that ! Departure time for the Aug. 27 cruise is expected to be at 8 pm. Guests who opt to sail on this voyage will receive a one-day pro-rated refund of their cruise fare and a $50 per person shipboard credit.  Guests also have the option of cancelling and receiving a full refund or a future cruise credit equal to the amount of their cruise fare.

2. Royal Caribbean:

Royal Caribbean announced, “Allure of the Seas’ next sailing will now begin on Tuesday, August 28.  We ask that guests who are scheduled to sail on Allure of the Seas on Sunday, August 26, not arrive at the port until 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28.  We kindly ask that guests come to the terminal between 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, for check-in and boarding.” Majesty of the Seas is due back in on Monday will delay boarding in Miami, they will just have to work around the time Isaac depending on what time the port reopens. Tropical Storm Hurricane Isaac is expected to reach hurricane strength on Sunday evening, making landfall on the Florida Keys and Gulf Coast as a category one storm. Guests sailing in the next couple days are advised to check their perispective Cruise Line websites.
